Terra Maris museum, Oostkapelle
Terra Maris, literally land of the sea, is the museum for nature and landscape of Zeeland. The museum is located in the former orangery of castle Westhove, which is situated in the beautiful nature reserve De Manteling van Walcheren, between Oostkapelle and Domburg. A varied, lively exhibition takes you through the history of the Zeeland landscape and shows you the richly diverse Zeeland nature. Get to know the dynamic nature of the Delta, the many land reclamations, and the more than one hundred villages that have been wiped off the map by water over the centuries.
(Children’s) activities, parties and arrangements
Regularly, there are (children’s) activities that you can participate in at Terra Maris. For example, you can learn how to make paper, dissect owl pellets, chat with the beekeeper, and much more. For adults, excursions through the Manteling are regularly organised, such as the excursion From Sweet to Salt, the Early Bird excursion, or a cultural-historical walk about the Battle of the Scheldt. If you are looking for an outing with the children from your sports club, scouting group, after-school care, etc., then you are also at the right place at Terra Maris. Below you will find an overview of activities for children aged 4 to 12 years. Afterward, a nice ice cream to take away or a soft drink in the museum café can also be arranged.
Landscape garden
In the landscape garden, the Hortus Zelandiae, you can view the different landscape types of Zeeland such as dunes and dikes, children can catch water creatures in the ponds with a net, or climb on climbing equipment. A real Outdoor Classroom of Zeeland Nature! Don’t forget to climb the motte castle on the flee hill and visit our museum café and museum shop.

Verrassend leuk museum. Aanrader als je meer wilt weten over de natuur(historie) van Zeeland. Wij hebben vooral genoten van de grote (kruiden)tuin met veel informatie bij de planten. Ook de bordjes voor het identificeren van de bijen, hommels, vlinders en andere beestjes waren erg goed.

Van alles te zien en te beleven. Erg mooi ook. De visjes/kikkers vangen met een netje viel ook goed in de smaak bij onze kids

Leuke en leerzame middag met kleinzoon mee met de strandjutter. Jutter Theo was zeer enthousiasmerend tijdens de wandeling en bij het jutten op het strand en tussen de paalhoofden.
