South Holland is a province in the west of the Netherlands along the North Sea coast. The capital is The Hague, and the largest city is Rotterdam. South Holland is one of the most densely populated and industrialized areas in the world. The province covers 3,403 km² and has a population of 3,673,893 (January 2019), making South Holland the most populous province in the Netherlands.

Adjacent provinces include Zeeland to the south, North Brabant to the southeast, and Gelderland and Utrecht to the east. To the north lies the province of North Holland, which was part of the single province of Holland until the constitutional revision of 1840. Until 1795, this area was known as the County of Holland. To the west, the province borders the North Sea.
